Licensed Physical Therapist
Certified Dry Needling Practitioner
Kristen took a non-traditional route to becoming a licensed, clinical physical therapist. But all the pieces of experience and background fit together perfectly today as he builds 10X Physiotherapy, a physical therapy practice serving the Birmingham area as well as the communities of Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Hoover and parts of Shelby County.
His formal education began with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, following by seven year’s experience in manufacturing. Along the way, he participated in several mission trips, and began to consider other ways to serve people both at home and abroad.
He pursued a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, graduating in 2010. That degree led to his initial work in physical therapy, giving one-on-one care to patients following orthopedic surgery, and with a variety of neurological conditions.
In 2012, Kristen began managing an outpatient PT clinic at a hospital while continuing to develop his manual therapy skills. By 2013, he had been invited to open a clinic with one of the largest therapist-owned private practices in Alabama.
His continuing education courses included more experience in therapy for the spine, three advanced courses in Dry Needling, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage (IASTM). He also completed specialized coursework in endurance sports (running and cycling), and along the way he personally completed his first, full-distance Ironman marathon.
All of this range of experience and training helped Kristen develop an appreciation for the need for individualized care to address a range of needs. He also formed an equally sensitive appreciation for the difficulties of providing treatment within the current bounds of insurance and reimbursement policies.
The result has been a new approach to physical therapy: highly efficient, intensive one-on-one care, conveniently delivered to the home or office. Your goals . . .your place. This new approach has made 10X Physiotherapy a cost-efficient, patient-driven option for all your physical therapy needs.
